Dermatology Service
The dermatology department is composed of an ECVD certified European Specialist and a RCVS specialist in Veterinary Dermatology supported by a dedicated dermatology nurse. The team offers a high level of expertise in dealing with all types of skin and ear problems.
Some of the skin conditions the dermatology team commonly deals with are:
- Investigation and management of pruritus including intradermal allergy testing and allergen-specific immunotherapy. We offer rush immunotherapy protocols to achieve accelerated effective dosing level in selected cases.
- Alopecic skin diseases
- Autoimmune skin diseases
- Endocrine skin diseases
- Keratinization disorders
- Claw diseases
- Parasite and infectious skin diseases
- Pododermatitis, including C02 laser treatment
The dermatology department also run the ear clinics which combine video-otoscopy and advanced imaging with on site CT and MRI scans. Advanced imaging is often necessary to fully investigate cases of chronic otitis. Video-otoscopy is essential for a detailed investigation, diagnosis and treatment of ear disease.
Investigations and treatments for dermatological patients are typically performed on a same-day basis wherever possible.
Our dermatology team is available for telephone consultations for veterinary surgeons who may want to discuss a referral or need advice for cases that cannot be referred.
